The Only Statewide Junior Golf Series in Ohio
This series consists of quality junior golf tournaments in different geographical areas of the state. All OGCOA
tournaments will be conducted with uniform rules and age groups. These tournaments will be open to male and female junior
players. A player may participate in all tournaments or just one - their choice!
New Increased Tournament Opportunities
For eleven years the Ohio Golf Course Owners Association (OGCOA) has operated a series of junior tournaments in
Ohio, advancing the winners to a State Championship. Additionally, sixteen outstanding players from this series are advanced
to a tow-day Ryder Cup type match with the best players from Pennsylvania. Recognizing that in some areas of the state
we were competing with excellent local junior tournaments at our member courses. The OGCOA has embarked on a cooperative arrangement
to improve junior golf in Ohio. Junior golfers will benefit from not having to choose from competing tournaments. Now
with multiple tournaments sending their “best” to one quality state championship we can offer an outstanding competitive
field. Several qualifier tournaments will be recognized by the OGCOA. Tournament rules for the OGCOA sponsored events
are outlined in this form. Cooperating local junior tournaments will select one of their tournaments as a “qualifier
tournament”. Those “qualifier tournaments” are listed on our website. Please Click Here to view other tournaments . Golfers must review each of these tournaments for particular fees and rules.
State Championship
The Junior Golf Series will conclude with the State Championship July 20-21 at the championship course of Bunker
Hill, Mentor, Ohio. State Champions will be announced and trophies presented at this invitational two-day event. A $500 scholarship
will be awarded to both the male and female state champion in the 16-18 age groups.
Bi-State Championship
Ohio and Pennsylvania junior golfers will compete on August 3-4 in the 8th annual Bi-State Championship. Ten boys
and girls from each state will be invited to participate in this Ryder Cup format tournament. Golfers must have participated
in at least one of the OGCOA sanctioned tournaments to be considered by the selection committee. Windmill Lakes Golf
Course, Ravenna, will host this prestigious event.
Tee Times
Tee times will not be mailed or faxed to individual golfers. Tee times will be posted on our website, five days
in advance of each tournament. Please Click Here to view Tee Times.
Age limit and Divisions
Tournaments are open to all golfers. OGCOA sponsored tournaments will have three age groups for both boys and girls
– 11-13, 14-5, and 16-18. Please review ages and grouping for each OGCOA member qualifier tournament.
Event Winners
Awards will be given to the first three place winners in each age group at each tournament. In each age group the
number of trophies will be limited by the number of entrants. There must be at least three in an age group to have one trophy
awarded, sin in the group for two trophies, and nine or more in the age group for three trophies. In case of a tie for the
first three places, the tie will be settled by a sudden death play-off.
NCAA Rules
In order to help student athletes maintain compliance with current NCAA rules, “State Championship”
scholarship winners may win more than once, but may only receive the scholarship once. Trophies will be awarded for any succeeding
wins by the scholarship winners.
Cancellation/Refunds
No refunds will be given unless the tournaments you select are already filled or are cancelled by OGCOA. You must
arrive for your tee time or you will be disqualified. In the event of severe weather or extremely heavy rain, all age groups
which finish nine holes will be deemed to have completed a tournament round. Winners will be determined on that basis.
Entry Fee
Please return a fully completed entry form with payment. All entries should be received at least 10 days before
a tournament. Please note that entries fee may be different for OGCOA member qualifier tournaments.
Tournament Director
An OGCOA Tournament Director will be present at each OGCOA tournament site and shall have complete authority over
all activities including tee times, pairings, etiquette, pace of play, rules, decisions and the determination of winners.
Playing Groups & Tee Times
These will be determined by the OGCOA. Tee times will be posted on approximately 5 days before each tournament.
Competitors should arrive at the course and check-in ½ hour before their assigned tee time or risk losing their posted tee
time. Please Click Here to view Tee Times .
Rules
All tournaments will be conducted under the USGA Rules of Golf and the Ohio High School Athletic Association Rules.
Local rules for specific courses will be provided at each tournament site as needed.
Caddies, Carts & Spectators
Competitors are not allowed to use caddies or power carts. Pull carts are permitted. Spectators/parents/coaches
are permitted to follow competitors on the course, but must remain ½ holes from the competitor and cannot have contact with
the competitor on the course.
Equipment
All players must use clubs and balls that conform to the USGA Rules of Golf or risk being disqualified.
